7 Reasons Why Playa Norte is the Best Beach in the World

7 Reasons Why Playa Norte is the Best Beach in the World

Playa Norte is recognized annually by travel magazines as one of the 20 most beautiful beaches in the world. These seven reasons make it the best beach in the world. Let’s see if you agree with us.

1. Unmatched Natural Beauty

Playa Norte is known for its turquoise water, white, soft sand, and incredible sunset. These three elements combine to make it a truly special place.

Crystal-Clear Waters

The water is strikingly clear, allowing you to see all types of marine animals swimming alongside. Because of its location, it’s shallow with very gentle waves, making it a perfect beach for families. Finally, it has an ideal warm temperature all year round.

Pristine White Sand

The sand at Playa Norte is soft and white. The sand is so fine that it stays cool no matter how hot and sunny the day is, making it perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles, playing beach games, or just lying around.

Spectacular Sunsets

One of the most magical experiences at Playa Norte is watching the sunsets. Every evening, the sky lights up with shades of orange, purple, and pink, making you feel like you are in a Monet painting.

2. Ideal Climate Year-Round

Playa Norte enjoys a warm and inviting climate throughout the year. Visitors can expect beautiful sunshine and mild breezes, perfect for beach activities.

Temperature Ranges:

    • Winter: 70°F – 80°F (21°C – 27°C)
    • Spring: 75°F – 85°F (24°C – 29°C)
    • Summer: 80°F – 90°F (27°C – 32°C)
    • Fall: 75°F – 85°F (24°C – 29°C)

Rain is minimal, making sunny days typical, and humidity levels stay comfortable, so it doesn’t feel sticky.

3. Rich Marine Biodiversity

Playa Norte is home to a vibrant mix of marine life. Visitors can enjoy beautiful coral reefs and see various colorful fish swimming around. The area also has dolphins and turtles in the area, making it an unforgettable experience for visitors,

Coral Reefs and Colorful Fish

Playa Norte is surrounded by coral reefs, which provide food and shelter to many fish species and act as natural barriers, keeping the beach’s waters calm. Snorkelers and divers often spot bright parrotfish, clownfish, and angelfish.

Dolphins and Turtles

Dolphins are common near Playa Norte, often playing in the waves. Turtles also frequent the waters around the beach. They can be seen coming to shore to nest or swimming back into the ocean.

4. Easy Accessibility

Playa Norte is located in Isla Mujeres, a small island 9 miles from Cancun. It’s very easy and economical (approximately $ 15 USD one way) if you stay in Cancun to take the ferry to Playa Norte.

Cancun to Isla Mujeres

There are three docks for the ferry in the Hotel Zone:

    • Playa Caracol – Located in Boulevard Kukulcan 9.5km (between the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach and Hotel Riu)
    • Playa Tortugas – Located in Boulevard Kukulcan 6.5km (across from Marina Aquatours)

The main dock is in Puerto Juarez, about 20 minutes from the Hotel Zone.

There are about 25 daily departures from the main dock. Check the departure times if you want to use one of the docks in the Hotel Zone.

The ticket price is about twice as high if you use the docks in the Hotel Zone, but you should consider the cost of the taxi cab if you go to the main dock when deciding which is the best option for you.

The ferry ride to Isla Mujeres takes only 20 minutes.
